Application of ZigBee Positioning in Travel Group Personnel Management

I. System Background

Tour groups at scenic spots typically face several challenges: weak mountain signals, large numbers of people, and numerous ground-level obstructions. When trying to locate someone, obstructions can make them invisible even at short distances, leading to difficulties in finding them. In emergencies, this reduces response time and increases the risk of incidents. It is also quite challenging for tour guides to locate members within the group. Finding one lost person is manageable, but if multiple people get separated, the guide's limited energy makes the search extremely difficult.
This problem can be easily solved by using West-HN Technology's ZigBee positioning Pocket Elf device. By conducting real-time personnel inventory through the Pocket Elf APP software, all individuals within a 50-meter radius can be instantly counted. The inventory statistics allow the guide to immediately identify which member has fallen behind, facilitating a quick search in the vicinity.

II. System Advantages

1. Rapid Personnel Binding

Upon joining the tour, the guide distributes tags containing basic tourist information. These tags are then quickly bound to the group within the APP software, facilitating subsequent statistical tracking and management.

2. On-Demand Query

The guide can conduct real-time personnel inventory and statistics during the tour to instantly check if any group members have fallen behind. If someone is missing, they can be located in the shortest possible time.

3. Tag Recycling

After the tour concludes, the guide can collect the tags from the group members and unbind the personnel information in the software system, making them ready for reuse in the next tour.

III. Solution

  • Each person wears an electronic tag WE-T32K;
  • The guide carries a Pocket Elf device WE-PK32K and inputs each tour member's information into the system software, binding personnel data to the tags;
  • The guide can perform personnel inventory and statistics as needed to check if all members are present or if anyone has fallen behind.
  • If a member's tag cannot be read during inventory, it indicates they have moved beyond the 50-meter range of the group. The guide should promptly search for or contact that member.
